Sangha Yoga (meaning "Community" in Sanskrit) was born of the idea that all beings on their own individual path come together harmoniously to experience peace on this planet one moment at a time.

Whether you come here for your first yoga class or you have been practicing for a while, our culture encourages you to step away from any judgement and choose your class by the feeling you intend to sustain or create. All levels are welcomed and embraced.

Our commitment to you, the student, is to provide a warm and peaceful environment, a sanctuary where something greater can be created, and a platform to develop your yoga practice. More importantly, it is our intention to offer you an opportunity to create space, renew energy, and restore freedom.

ReikiYou've probably heard that doing yoga is good for you, but what are the specific health benefits you can expect to enjoy?

  • Increases Flexibility - Using yoga to stretch your body will increase flexibility, enhancing your range of motion. Doing yoga consistently, you can expect to gain flexibility in your hamstring, back, shoulders, and hips.

  • Increases lubrication of all joints, ligaments and tendons - Because the poses performed during yoga are low impact and held for a set time, your body increases blood flow and provides the support that the body's limbs need to function properly.

  • Massages ALL organs of the body - Yoga is perhaps the only form of activity which massages all the internal glands and organs of the body in a thorough manner.

  • Completely detoxifies the body - By gently stretching muscles and joints as well as massaging the various organs, yoga maximizes blood supply to various parts of the body, flushing toxins out from every nook and cranny.

  • Excellent toning of the muscles - As a by-product of getting stronger through the regular practice of yoga, you can expect to see increased muscle tone. Yoga helps shape long, lean muscles.

  • Relaxes the mind - In doing yoga, you are concentrating so intently on what your body is doing, how your body is breathing, and being introduced to meditation techniques, it has the effect of bringing a calmness to the mind.

  • Improved sleep - The ability of yoga to reduce muscle tension, slow your heart rate and calm a racing mind combines to provide for a good night's sleep.

  • Supports weight loss - Through yoga, you are more mindful, changing the relationship of mind to body, and eventually to food and eating.


"YOU WONDER" - I have always been as stiff as cement, so I can't do yoga.
"WE SAY" - Unless you are a ballet dancer or gymnast, it's very normal if you feel tight, so don't worry if touching your toes seems impossible. The good news is that with regular practice, yoga is extremely effective at improving flexibility.

"YOU WONDER" - I already work out at the gym, I don't need yoga too.
"WE SAY" - Although many forms of exercise provide a wonderful physical workout, only yoga can also claim to be a therapeutic system that helps heal injuries, improve chronic illness, and balance mental stress.

"YOU WONDER" - Yoga is just for girls.
"WE SAY" - While it is true that certain things are just for girls, yoga is not one of them. Historically, some of the greatest yoga teachers for over 2000 years have been men.

"YOU WONDER" - I tried yoga class once, but it's (insert something you didn't like here).
"WE SAY" - Some styles of yoga may not agree with some people, we encourage you to continue to investigate the classes until you find exactly what it is that you are looking for.

"YOU WONDER" - I'm afraid that taking yoga will force me to adopt a religion.
"WE SAY" - Yoga is not a religion, it's a technique of physical movements leading to improved health. If yoga has a belief system, it's simply to become more connected to your body.

"YOU WONDER" - I don't want to just sit and meditate for an hour and a half.
"WE SAY" - There will be classes designated for just meditation alone. All other classes will integrate movement, postures, meditation, philosophy, alignment, and even humor!
